Initial Consultation & Assessment (1-1 ½ hours) £150.00
(including a short report)
If a period of therapy is recommended, I will often advise that a report is written after therapy has started to allow for more in-depth observations and prognosis.
Detailed Assessment £300.00
Normally lasts between 2-3 hours. This is the time spent with the child and parent or teacher. The fee also includes detailed analysis of any formal assessments, language samples and observations carried out at the assessment session, and the writing of a detailed report.
Accurate diagnosis is essential for planning appropriate therapy. My diagnosis will be based on formal and/or informal assessments. My findings may differ from the expectations of parents or carers. I may not be able to tell you anything new.
Standard Therapy Session (45 minutes - 1 hour) £70.00
This is the time spent with the child and parents or teachers. The fee also includes time spent outside the consultation in preparation of material, planning, and liaising with parents and professionals. It is my usual practice to offer a pre-agreed number of treatment sessions, with an opportunity to review management options with you at the end of that period. Therapy is usually effective but cannot be guaranteed. Parents are free to withdraw a child from therapy at any time. Equally, if I feel that therapy is not being effective, then I will discuss this with you and may recommend that we stop.
Attendance at Case Conferences, Multi-disciplinary Meetings and Other Related Discussions
This will be charged at £70.00 for the first hour (or part hour). An hour is usually sufficient time, but if the session takes considerably longer, then an additional pro rata charge may be incurred.
Teachers often request school/nursery visits. Such visits are only made with parental agreement. Therapy undertaken in school on a regular basis is charged at the standard rate of £70.00 plus travel. Where home activities are appropriate, resources will be sent home with the child or sent to the parents to pass copies on to school.
Parents are responsible for:
ensuring that the therapy materials are sent back on the appropriate day; and
informing me if the child will be absent from school.
Letters, Reports and Written Treatment Programmes £50per hr
Written documents which are additional to the initial assessment report are charged in respect of the total time taken to prepare them and based on £50.00 per hour.
This will usually be via email. If you would prefer to receive information printed on paper, including Reports, please ask and I will be happy to do this.
A travel charge of up to £20.00 is made for home/nursery/school visits.
Sessions cancelled by the client with less than 24 hours’ notice will be liable to the full charge of the session fee (without any travelling costs).
I endeavour to keep all appointments. If owing to unforseen circumstances, I have to cancel an appointment, I will re-book it as soon as possible. No liability can be accepted for inconvenience/expense if unforseen circumstances mean arrangements have to be cancelled or changed.
It is important for your child’s care that liaison with other professionals involved with their learning and development is undertaken. All reports will be sent to the parents or carers who have initiated the assessment for them to distribute. I strongly recommend families keep everyone involved in their child’s care and development informed. My professional standards require good liaison and it is good practice, where both an independent and an NHS therapist are involved, for them to work together collaboratively to maximise opportunities for effective therapy to take place for your child. This is also true where there are other professionals involved as well. I am always happy to discuss this policy and any other related concerns with parents and carers.
I am compliant with GDPR data protection regulations. Please see my GDPR Policy.
Fees for an initial consultation and for therapy sessions should be paid within 10 days of receipt of relevant invoice.
Payment is accepted by cash, cheques or by BACS. Cheques should be made payable to Monique Tobin.
Parents/carers using private health insurance are responsible for settling the invoice and then claiming from the insurer concerned. It is advisable to check the level and nature of your cover with the insurer before agreeing to therapy.
Please discuss any complaints or concerns that you may have with me in the first instance.
